I watched an older episode last night, the one where Lisa finds out Jebediah Springfield was a pirate. I hate to be such a purist, but it had been a while since I had seen an episode from that era and was blown away by how much BETTER it was than the new ones, especially as far as writing is concerned. Homer telling Lisa he believes her because "you're usually right about these things, and this time I want in on the ground floor," I mean, that's just great. I still watch and enjoy the show, but if they really want a movie, they should have made it ten years ago.
I can think of at least 6 episodes off the top of my head where a mob of angry Springfielders charge the Simpsons household. And there are at least as many episodes where a character wields a broken bottle to defend him/herself.
Hopefully this will be a musical. The Simpsons always had the best musical numbers: Who loves the Quickie Mart? I Doooo!

I saw these a while ago. These clips are not funny. I'm very worried.
